Security audit of the KYIVSTAR data centre’s NCPI

Investor:   KYIVSTAR GSM JSC
Installation site:  Kiev, Ukraine

The task:

• to elaborate a complex assessment report on the data centre
• to evaluate its physical security and its non-IT infrastructure

Optimal approach:

• the execution of technological and security audits on site, i.e. the complex recognition of  the facility and the data centre’s locality;
• the assessment of physical protection of the DC;
• the evaluation of operated technology and its parameters;
• determination of overall availability of the non-IT critical infrastructure in accordance with international and national standards, including the industrial standard of The Uptime Institute;
• release of the Assessment report with the Letter of recommendations while considering all known goals of the data centre’s owner

Added value of realized concept:

• ALTRON analysed and categorized the availability requirements for both computer rooms and evaluated the ability of the non-IT infrastructure to work in non-stop operation modes 7x24 and 365x7x24;
• the audit revealed potential direct economic loss in case of failure of specific non-IT components and recommended corrective measures to avoid and reduce risks
